AUGUSTA, Ga. – The No. 37 Augusta University men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 5 Columbus State on Friday afternoon in Peach Belt Conference action at the Newman Tennis Center.
Columbus State claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Humberto Pinto and Alejandro Carbonell fell 6-3 at No. 1, while Arthur Valette and Tommy Matsumine dropped a 6-4 decision at No. 3. Augusta picked up a win at No. 2 doubles, as David Perret and Alexis Bailhache earned a 6-3 victory.
In singles play, Augusta secured two points in competitive matches. David Perret battled back to earn a three-set victory, winning 3-6, 7-5, 10-0. Enzo Sakiyama also picked up a point with a 7-6, 1-6, 10-2 win.
Alexis Bailhache fell 6-3, 6-3 at the top position, while Arthur Valette dropped a three-set match 6-2, 3-6, 10-4. Alejandro Carbonell fell in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5, and Tommy Matsumine dropped a 7-5, 6-1 decision.
Augusta moves to 6-9 overall and 0-3 in Peach Belt Conference play.
