Murrells Inlet, S.C. - The Augusta University women's golf team continued its strong play in the spring by posting a third place finish at the Shootout at Wachesaw 36-hole event in Murrells Inlet, S.C.
Number 18 South Carolina won the tournament and was followed by Minnesota and Augusta.
Puntita Pawichai led the way for the Jaguars as she finished in a tie for fourth place at 3-under-par.

Pawichai fired rounds of 70-71 and, for the most part, had a clean scorecard on the day. In the opening round she had three birdies and a single bogey while in round two she made four more birdies to go along with three bogeys.
Marine Legentil finished in 10th place with rounds of 72-75 for a score of 3-over-par. She had a single birdie and bogey in the opening round. In round two, Legentil made one birdie to go along with two bogeys and a double bogey.
The third team scores were turned in by
Sara Adams. Adams had rounds of 78-73 to finish at 7-over-par. She had five total birdies between the two rounds.
Freshman
Danielle Higbee shot 71 in the opening round that counted towards the team score. That round consisted of three birdies and two bogeys. In round two, HIgbee shot 79, which did not count towards the team total. She still finished in 19th place.
The final counting score in the second round was posted by
Sofia Valera with a 1-over-par 73. Valera made three birdies in the round to go along with four bogeys. Her opening round score of 79 did not count towards the team total.
The Jaguars will be back in action at the Valspar Augusta Invitational Saturday and Sunday at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga.
