AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University closed the regular season in dominant fashion on Sunday, sweeping Georgia College 7-0 on Senior Day at the Newman Tennis Center.
The Jaguars took control early by winning the doubles point. Alexis Bailhache and David Perret earned a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Arthur Valette and Tommy Matsumine followed with a 6-3 win at No. 3. The No. 1 doubles match featuring Alejandro Carbonell and Humberto Pinto was left unfinished with Augusta leading.
Augusta carried that momentum into singles play, winning all six matches to complete the sweep.
Alexis Bailhache battled to a three-set victory, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, at the top position. David Perret added a 6-1, 6-3 win, while Arthur Valette earned a straight-set victory, 6-4, 6-2.
Alejandro Carbonell rolled to a 6-3, 6-0 decision, Enzo Sakiyama posted a 6-2, 6-3 win, and Humberto Pinto closed the day with a 7-6, 7-5 victory.
Augusta finishes the regular season at 8-11 overall and now turns its focus to the Peach Belt Conference Tournament.
The Jaguars earned the No. 6 seed and will face No. 3 North Georgia on Friday, April 24 at 6:00 p.m. in Columbus, Ga.
