AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta broke through in the final inning to earn a 3-0 win over Georgia College Bobcats softball on Friday afternoon at Jaguar Field.
The two teams were locked in a scoreless battle through six innings, with Augusta consistently creating opportunities but unable to break through.
Kaylynn Scaffe led the Jaguars at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double, while Sydney Gilbert added a double as Augusta generated traffic on the bases throughout the game.
In the circle, Kristyn Ezzo delivered a dominant performance, tossing a complete-game shutout while allowing just one hit and striking out three.
Augusta finally broke through in the bottom of the seventh. Chesney Miles opened the inning with a single before advancing into scoring position. After a sacrifice moved runners along, Ansley Gibson worked a full count walk to put two on. Victoria Oropeza then delivered the decisive swing, launching a three-run home run off the light pole, her first of the season, to secure the victory.
