Fairfield, Ca. - A few days after the Augusta women competed in the West Coast Conference golf championship, it's time for the men to do the same. The Jaguars will compete at the same venue, Green Valley Country Club.
Pretty much all the Jaguars know the pressures of playing in the post season with all but one having played in the NCAA Regional a year ago. Coach Steven Paine said that matters this time of year.
"Experience in the post season is big," said Paine. "Once you get to post season, it's kind of all-or-nothing. For us joining a new conference, I think there's the thought of us trying to prove ourselves.
It can be difficult to treat the post season as just another event, but that's what the focus is for AU. Don't overthink it, just go play golf.
"I think the guys just need to play loose and free. In the post season, it's survive to advance, and sometimes that comes with a bit of freedom not having to worry about rankings and that kind of stuff. Having the same crew as last year helps to be free and let it go." said Paine.Â
