HILTON HEAD, SC – Augusta University women's tennis player
Andrea Gonzalez was named the Peach Belt Conference Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year at the league's annual awards dinner on Tuesday in Hilton Head. The awards are the highest individual honors given to student-athletes by the conference and are selected by the league's Faculty Athletics Representatives.
Gonzalez is an honors graduate from Augusta University with a degree in business management and a concentration in supply chain management. The graduate is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society and was named to the President's List in five semesters and Dean's List for six semesters. Gonzalez is also a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete, two-time PBC All-Academic Team member and two-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District member.
The two-year team captain of Augusta's women's tennis team received the coaches award for her work on and off the court. She secured victories over regionally and nationally ranked opponents on the court. She has also served as a representative on the student-athlete advisory committee at Augusta University and served as a member of the national society of leadership and success. Through all her work on the court and in the classroom, she also successfully operates a small business creating homemade all-purpose seasoning and salsa.
This marks the second consecutive year that an Augusta University student-athlete has received one of the Peach Belt Conference's highest individual honors. Last year, Ryan Li of the men's track and field program was named the PBC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
