AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta softball team concluded the 2026 season on Friday morning, falling 9-4 to Columbus State Cougars softball in the opening round of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. The Jaguars finished the season with a 23-29 overall record and a 12-15 mark in Peach Belt Conference play.
Augusta opened the game with an early run in the first inning as
Chesney Miles reached base and later came around to score.
Columbus State answered in the bottom halfscoring two to take the lead before adding another run in the second inning making it 3-1. The Jaguars responded in the third, highlighted by an RBI single from
Ansley Gibson and a sacrifice fly from
Kaylynn Scaffe to cut the deficit to 4-3.
Kelsea Moody provided a spark late in the game, launching a pinch-hit solo home run in the seventh inning, while Augusta continued to compete offensively throughout the contest.
Miles finished 1-for-3 with two runs scored and a stolen base, while
Sam Tener went 1-for-2 with a run scored and a stolen base. Scaffe added a hit and an RBI as Augusta totaled five hits in the matchup.

Madalyn Spinks made the start before
Kristyn Ezzo and Gibson combined in relief for the Jaguars.
Gibson capped off another strong season by earning All-Peach Belt Conference honors after contributing both offensively and in the circle throughout the year. Gibson finished the season batting .304 with 38 hits, five home runs, and 23 RBI while also posting a 3.39 ERA with 40 strikeouts across 93 innings pitched.
Scaffe led the Jaguars offensively with a .318 batting average and 20 RBI, while
Nevaeh Ross finished the season batting .324.
Sydney Gilbert added a .410 on-base percentage with 18 walks, and
Eden Parker recorded five home runs with a team-best .548 slugging percentage.
Inside the circle, Ezzo recorded 93 strikeouts and four shutouts during the season, while Spinks earned eight wins across 95 innings pitched.
The Jaguars conclude the season after earning a berth into the Peach Belt Conference Tournament, while continuing to gain experience throughout the roster heading into next season.
