Augusta Men's Basketball Announces 2026-27 Signing Class

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University men's basketball has added eight freshmen to its roster ahead of the 2026-27 season. The class features talent from across the United States, Europe and Africa as the Jaguars continue building for the future.

Head coach Dip Metress welcomes Lamarrion Lewis, Mehmet Erfa, Lucas Wiersma, Emmanuel Kamara, Christian Blomfelt, Torian Greene, Justin Delgado and Kevin Curtis to Augusta.

"We lost four of our top five scorers from a team that had the worst record in my tenure at Augusta," said Metress. "We believe in the seven players that return, and we look forward to them showing these eight freshmen what AU basketball is all about. We will be the youngest team in the country and new in a lot of spots, but this has been a great reset for our basketball program. We kept receipts last year on all of the teams that enjoyed beating us when we had the tsunami of injuries that we dealt with. We are on a mission to return to where we belong."

Lamarrion Lewis
Tulsa, Okla. • 6'0" • Guard
Freshman – Wheeler High School

Lewis comes to Augusta after helping Wheeler High School capture the Georgia Class 7A state championship. He averaged 7.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game while serving as the team's starting point guard.

Coach Metress on Lewis
"La was the starting point guard at Wheeler High School, which also won a 7A state championship. La is one of the better on-ball defenders in the state and was a key component to Wheeler's success. La has great vision, will provide us an impactful player on the perimeter and made big shots throughout his career."

Mehmet Erfa
Istanbul, Turkey • 6'0" • Guard
Fenerbahce Koleji Istanbul

Erfa arrives after competing for Fenerbahce Koleji Istanbul in Turkey's TBL. He averaged 8.4 points per game while shooting 48.4 percent from the field and an impressive 52.9 percent from three-point range.

Coach Metress on Erfa
"Mehmet is a phenomenal shooter and an extremely pesky defender. Mehmet has great basketball IQ and has played on the national level in Turkey. Mehmet possesses the ability to break the game open with his shooting and has shown the ability to shoot off screens, on catch-and-shoot opportunities and off the bounce."

Lucas Wiersma
Anderson, S.C. • 6'7" • Forward
Freshman – T.L. Hanna High School

Wiersma averaged 17.2 points and 12.3 rebounds per game during his senior season at T.L. Hanna High School.

Coach Metress on Wiersma
"Lucas is one hard-playing kid. Lucas is able to secure rebounds, run the floor and always plays with a high motor. Lucas also showed the ability to score in and around the basket by using angles. Lucas has consistently gotten better as his career progressed."

Emmanuel Kamara
Freetown, Sierra Leone • 6'8" • Forward
The St. James

Kamara played at The St. James in the Nike EYBL Scholastic League, averaging 4.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game while shooting 61.2 percent from the field. He also recorded 13 blocks during the season.

Coach Metress on Kamara
"Manny is an athletic inside-outside player that possesses phenomenal athletic ability. Manny is long and was a really good defender on his high school teams. Manny has only been playing basketball for two and a half years, and the sky is the limit."

Christian Blomfelt
Helsinki, Finland • 6'6" • Forward
HBA-Marsky Helsinki

Blomfelt competed for HBA-Marsky Helsinki in Finland's First Division A, averaging 17.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.

Coach Metress on Blomfelt
"Christian has a scorer's mentality. Christian represented his country in international competition and has the ability to get to the rim off the bounce. Christian should be able to absorb contact on drives, is a good rebounder and gets to the free throw line. We are counting on him to have an immediate impact."

Torian Greene
Macon, Ga. • 6'3" • Guard
Freshman – Alexander High School

Greene averaged 12.1 points per game while shooting 52.7 percent from the field at Alexander High School.

Coach Metress on Greene
"Torian caught our eye going into his senior year and is a versatile player that has shown the ability to be a great defender and role player on a 6A state championship Alexander High School team. Torian's high school team had multiple scorers, and he was able to carve out his niche on that team, which will translate into college basketball."

Justin Delgado
Brooklyn, N.Y. • 6'6" • Forward
Freshman – Nazareth Regional High School

Delgado averaged 14.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game at Nazareth Regional High School.

Coach Metress on Delgado
"Justin is unique because he exclusively played inside in high school but showed the ability to make shots on the perimeter at a high level. Justin is a smart player who knows his strengths and weaknesses. Justin is a consistent shooter with improving range. Justin is a physical defender and rebounder as well."

Kevin Curtis
Grovetown, Ga. • 7'0" • Center
Freshman – Gainesville High School

Curtis averaged 8.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 62.9 percent from the field. He was also named Defensive Player of the Year.

Coach Metress on Curtis
"Kevin is a local kid that finished up his high school career in Atlanta. I have seen Kevin for over five years and was always hoping that I would get the opportunity to coach him. Kevin's soft touch around the basket and shot blocking will translate right away."
