Incoming Augusta Golfer Finishes 10th at the Southeastern Amateur

Columbus, Ga. - Incoming Augusta golfer Andries van der Vyver finished 10th in the 97th playing of the Southeastern Amateur at the Country Club of Columbus. van der Vyver shot rounds of 64-68-72 and finished at 6-under-par, in a tie for 10th place.

From South Africa, van der Vyver got off to a hot start and was in the top five through two rounds. An early double bogey in his final round had him playing catchup the remainder of the day.

He wasn't the only Augusta golfer playing in the event. Bo Blanchard II, who just graduated, finished in a tie for 30th at 1-over-par.

Max Thomas and Nicolas van der Vyver, who will also join the Jaguar program this fall were also in the event. Thomas finished at 6-over-par and Nicolas van der Vyver finished at 10-over-par.

The Southeastern Amateur has a rich history that dates back to 1922 and was created by Fred Haskins. Each year the event draws top Division One talent as well as some of the top mid-amateur golfers.
