Augusta, Ga. - Just a week after classes started, the Augusta women's golf team will be in action on Monday, Aug. 24 at the Tiger Classic hosted by Clemson. The Jaguars are one of nine teams in the event. 

AU is coming off a solid spring campaign to wrap up the 2025-26 season and bring back a good portion of the roster as they look to carry over the momentum into this year. The early start will give the Jaguars an indication of where they are and what they need to work on.

"It's an awesome opportunity just to see where the ladies are at and get an early evaluation which is nice. Not just seeing it through qualifying but putting them in a tournament," said interim head coach Alison Crenshaw.

The field of the Tiger Classic includes Clemson, West Georgia, East Tennessee St., UNC Asheville, East Carolina, USC Upstate, North Carolina at Greensboro and Western Carolina. The teams will play both rounds of the event on Monday.

This year's AU roster includes returners Sara Adams, Danielle Higbee, Sofia Valera, Puntita Pawichai and Keira Gonzalez-McCarthy. They are joined by newcomers McKinley Holding and Luciana Reis. 

Having the experience of returning players could go a long way for this year's team.

"They are awesome to have and they are incredible leaders as well," said Crenshaw. "On the course, off the course, just well-rounded leaders."
