Greenville, SC - The Augusta women shot a team score of 1-over-par and are in fifth place after the first round of the Lady Paladin hosted by Furman University. Alabama is the team leader followed by Furman and Xavier in the top three. On the individual front, the Jaguars Puntita Pawichai led the way at 5-under-par and is tied for second overall.

Pawichai started hot and birdied her first three holes of the round. She would make three more birdies and had just a single bogey on the scorecard.

Danielle Higbee was 1-over-par on Friday. Higbee rolled home five birdies to go along with six bogeys.

Sofia Valera shot 74 to start the tournament. Valera did make three birdies on the day.

Sara Adams had the final team counting score with a 75. Adams round did feature an eagle.

McKinley Holding had the non-counting team score with a 76. Holding did make three birdies.

Luciana Reis, playing in her first collegiate tournament with Augusta shot a 1-over-par 73. Reis made three birdies on the day.

The second round will be a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
