SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Augusta University men's cross country team opened the 2026 season with a third-place finish at the Eye Opener Friday evening in Spartanburg, finishing as the top Division II team in the 14-team field.
Augusta totaled 101 points, finishing behind only Division I Clemson and Liberty. The Jaguars finished ahead of Division I programs East Tennessee State, USC Upstate and Longwood, along with Division II programs UNC Pembroke, Tusculum, USC Aiken, Emory & Henry, Southern Wesleyan and Brevard.
Senior Eli Corn led Augusta with an 18th-place finish in the 8K, crossing in 26:16.0. Junior Beck Wolf-Hardy followed in 19th at 26:26.2, while freshman Olly Morris finished 20th in his collegiate debut with a time of 26:27.3.
Freshman Alex Sotomayor Perez finished 31st in 26:46.1, and sophomore Connor Mumford rounded out Augusta's scoring five in 33rd at 26:47.7.
Freshmen Austin Chrouch and Ethan Burnett followed in 26:53.4 and 26:54.8, respectively. Sam Segrist finished in 27:04.2, Caleb Darsey in 27:07.7, Elijah Fitts in 27:16.4 and Seth Eye in 27:24.0.
Carter Dehnke crossed in 28:05.2, followed by Owen Almelien in 28:06.7, Camden Coker in 28:34.5, Nathan Henning in 29:47.5 and Marshall Bray in 30:09.2.
