AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State outscored visiting Benedict 9-2 over the last three minutes Saturday night and claimed a 65-59 non-conference victory in Christenberry Fieldhouse.

The contest marked the home opener for the Jaguars, who improved to 3-0 on the season and extended their home winning streak to 32 games, including 25 regular-season wins in a row.

ASU senior forward Franck Ndongo scored 15 points in the second half and registered career highs in scoring (21) and rebounds (eight). Junior point guard O'Neal Armstrong, making his first appearance at home, booked a career-best of his own with 20 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Jags' senior guard Caleb Brown tallied 10 points off the bench while senior forward Howard Brown and senior guard George Johnson grabbed six boards each. Junior guard Tye Beal dished out a team-best six assists and added a pair of steals.

Kennie Eberhart had 20 points for Benedict, which shot 61 percent in the second half and 49 percent for the game. Antrjuan Albright and Tydran Beaty managed 15 and 10 points, respectively.

In a game that featured nine ties and seven lead changes, BC closed to within one of the lead on a Xavier Collier free throw with 3:00 left in the game. The teams traded missed shots before Ndogno canned a pair from the charity stripe at the 1:36 mark.

Eberhart made a pair of free throws to pull the Tigers within one of the lead before the Jags answered with a 7-0 spurt that included four Armstrong free throws and a Caleb Brown trey from the right corner with 13 seconds left.

ASU dominated the boards with a 39-13 rebounding advantage. In fact, the Tigers (0-1) only had three rebounds the entire second half compared to the Jags' 22.

The Jags shot 42 percent for the game and connected on 23-of-29 free throws, compared to just 12-of-15 from the Tigers.

The ASU men's squad hosts the Life Runnin' Eagles on Wednesday, Nov. 24 at 6:00 p.m., in Christenberry Fieldhouse. ASU will also host Communities in Schools Night during the contest.
