AUGUSTA, Ga. -- USC Aiken shot 61 percent Wednesday night and cruised to 97-43 Peach Belt Conference victory over Augusta State in the USCA Convocation Center.
The 16th-ranked Lady Pacers climbed to 18-4 overall and 10-2 in the PBC, while ASU slipped to 6-13 and 0-11, respectively. The loss for the Lady Jaguars was their 11th straight, all in league play.
Senior point guard Jarquella Woods paced ASU with a career-high 13 points, and freshman guard Brooke McCants added 11.
Led by freshman forward Kayla Harris, USCA placed five players in double figures. Hannah DeGraffinreed and Deandra Schirmer netted 13 points each while Nakia Pinkney and Mia Antoine each chipped in 12. Schirmer pulled down a game-high 18 rebounds. The Lady Pacers tied a school record with 32 assists, just three of the all-time PBC mark.
USCA jumped out to a 12-2 lead just 3:23 into the game and never looked back en route to a 49-19 halftime lead. The Lady Pacers, who shot 55.9 percent in the first half, improved on that mark in the second half to the tune of 67.9 percent.
The Lady Jags connected on 7-of-15 3-point attempts, including three treys from Woods, but shot just 30.0 percent overall. The loss was the worst in the series for ASU, and Aiken's 97 points were the most ever scored in the series by either team.
The Lady Jaguars host top-ranked Lander on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 1:30 p.m., in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
