AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University women's basketball head coach Celeste Stewart has announced the promotion of former Jaguar standout Mone Florence to assistant coach for the 2026-27 season.

Florence spent the 2025-26 season as the program's graduate assistant after concluding her playing career with the Jaguars in 2025. She now enters her first season as an assistant coach after helping Augusta capture the Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship last season, the program's first tournament title in 33 years.

"I am thrilled to have Mone Florence as our women's basketball assistant coach," said Stewart. "She is the true example of what it means to be a Jaguar. Her hard work, dedication, value and investment into the program does not go unnoticed. She has had success as a student athlete and as a coach here at Augusta University. Her future is very bright, and we are excited to have her on our team."

A native of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Florence played a key role in Augusta's success during her career. She started all but a handful of games over her final two seasons, helping the Jaguars post 42 victories during that span while averaging more than seven points per game.

Following graduation in 2025, Florence joined Stewart's staff as the team's graduate assistant. During the 2025-26 season, she helped the Jaguars win the Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship, the program's first conference tournament title in 33 years.

In April 2025, Florence was selected to participate in the nationwide So You Want To Be A Coach program, where student-athletes took part in workshops designed to provide an understanding of the skills needed to become a coach and the administrative side of the profession.

Florence now begins her first season as an assistant coach as the Jaguars prepare for the 2026-27 season.
