Jaguars Fall In Top-Twelve Showdown

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Augusta State fell behind early via the doubles matches and couldn't recover, falling 5-2 to No. 2 Barry Sunday afternoon.

The Jaguars scored a point at the No. 1 doubles slot, as the duo of Bernardo Fernandes and Henrique Boturao squeezed out a 9-7 victory over Fabian Groetsch and Daniel Schmidt for ASU's first point of the day.

Jan Labas earned the second at No. 4 singles, taking down Romain Costamagna 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 in a tightly-contested match.

Fernandes (trailed 7-5, 6-7 (7-4), 1-3) and Victor Cabellos (trailed 7-6 (11-9), 3-6, 1-3) did not complete their singles matches once Barry had clinched the non-conference win.

The Jaguars hit the court Tuesday, March 6 to take on Erskine in non-conference action at 2:30 p.m. as part of a string of eight straight away matches.
