Box Score AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Limestone Saints ran away from GRU Augusta in the second half to take an 83-66 non-conference win in the Timken Center Saturday night.
The lead only changed twice as Limestone (2-0) controlled the game the majority of the night and shot 82.1 percent from the floor to GRU's 58.6. The Jaguars started the game on a 4-0 run off a Becky Newhouse layup and a free throw from Kelsey Fynaardt. They stayed ahead behind Brooke McCant's seven points and Whitney Rohrbach's five in the first half.
GRU (0-1) maintained the lead until just under nine minutes when Limestone tied it at 17-all and never looked back. Celestra Warren had a game-high 25 points for the Saints and Ayshia McNeil had 20 points - shooting 3-for-9 from the three-point line.
The Saints outscored GRU 53-to-43 in the second half and only had five turnovers to the Jags' eight. Limestone went up by as much as 23 with five minutes left and held off the Jaguars for an 83-66 win. Whitney Rohrbach kept GRU in the game with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Newhouse and McCants added 13 points.
GRU enjoyed 13 points off the bench and 34 in the paint. Rohrbach's eight boards and Lonna Turner's seven paced the team.
