COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Jaguar men's and women's tennis teams both dropped Peach Belt Conference matches at Columbus State Saturday afternoon with the men falling 5-3 and the women 6-3 to the Cougars.
The No. 20 Jaguar Men's Tennis team (4-1, 0-1) dropped their match today 5-3 to the Columbus State Cougars. Romain Brunie won the only singles match for the Jaguars, before Victor Cabellos and Victor Guimaraes beat CSU's Adi Malicbegovic and Marco Alomorin in the opening doubles meeting. Brunie and Romain Ferreria cleaned up the second doubles contest before the Cougars won the third doubles slot to take a 5-3 final.
The GRU women moved to 3-2 and 1-1 in the Peach Belt with a 6-3 loss to the No. 5 Cougars. The Jags lost their first four singles matches before Julie Fontaine and Maria Nadal took the No. five and six singles matches. Down 4-2, the Jags fell twice in doubles play with Maria Cecilia Pimentel and Maria Nadal winning the last doubles match. One win wasn't enough as the women slid to 1-1 in the league.
Both teams play at UNC Asheville in non-conference matches on Tuesday, Feb. 25 starting with a men at 12:00 p.m. before the women play at 2:00 p.m. in Asheville, N.C.
