AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Jaguar men took care of No. 18 Georgia College 5-3, while the GRU Augusta women fell 6-3 to the Bobcats Saturday afternoon in Peach Belt Conference action at Newman Tennis Center.

The GRU Augusta women (8-5, 3-3)    GC women 10-4, 3-2) evened the conference record with the 6-3 loss to the Bobcats. Maria Cecilia Pimentel and Maria Nadal won the two lone singles matches and Aida Castany and Marie Vin took the opening doubles matches for the Jags.

The Jaguar men (11-4, 1-2) earned their first Peach Belt Conference win of the season, with a 5-3 league victory over the Bobcats (8-4, 2-2) on Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcat first doubles pair of sophomore Yannick Hass (Troisdorf, Germany) and senior Alex Schubert (Frankfurt, Germany) were the only Georgia College winners at doubles with a tight 9-8 (7-3) win over Victor Cabellos and Victor Guimaraes.

Romain Ferreria and Romain Brunie topped Taylor Powell and Anton Waern 8-4 in second doubles, while the third doubles team of GC's Kyle Kinsler and Mattia Campus lost by the same score to Joao Freitas and Maxime Coulomb.

Entering singles play down 2-1, the Bobcats soon found themselves behind the eight ball at 3-1. Waern and Hass each won at third and first singles, respectively, to tie the contest at 3-3. The Jags then took a 4-3 lead when Guimarae defeated Campus, leading to a 5-3 Jaguar win.

The men and women travel to rival USC Aiken on Tuesday, March 25 for a 2:00 p.m. dual match with the Pacers in Aiken, S.C.
