AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Jaguar Women's Tennis team split three wins with the Erskine Flying Fleet in singles play, but won two of three in doubles completion to take a 5-4 non-conference match Thursday afternoon at Newman Tennis Center.
GRU Augusta jumped to 9-6 overall with the victory and Erskine slid to 10-5 with the 5- 4 loss. Roberta Oliveira, Maria Cecilia Pimentel and Maria Nadal won three singles matches, as the Fleet took the three others. It ultimately came down to the three doubles matches to decide the day. Corin Hallman and Mika Goyette gave Erskine an early 8-6 win in No. 1 doubles, but duo Oliveira and Julie Fontaine took the No. 2 match 8-1, before Pimentel and Gisela Font took an 8-2 win to give GRU the slight advantage they needed.
