No. 23 Jags Take PBC Road Win At No. 42 Flagler

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Nationally-ranked No. 23, the GRU Augusta Men's Tennis program took a 5-1 Peach Belt Conference victory on Thursday afternoon over the Flagler Saints at Bacon Park to win their 10th match in their last 11 played.

The Jaguars (15-5, 5-3 PBC) trailed early to the Saints when nationally-ranked No. 6 doubles pair Victor Cabellos and Victor Guimaraes dropped the opening doubles match to Flagler's Jose Martinez and Inigo Landaluce. GRU found life when Romain Ferreria and Romain Brunie won their 12th match together in No. 2 singles before Joao Gabriel Freitas and Maxime Coulomb triumphed in the third doubles meeting to go into singles with a boost.

In singles, No. 23 Martinez for Flagler and GRU's No. 32 Cabellos, did not finish the first singles spot, leading to Ferreria in number two singles – who prevailed 6-3, 6-1 for the Jags. Brunie and Hermann Gertmann did not finish, but Gumaraes and Freitas won back-to-back in the No. 5 and No. 6 singles slots to hold on for the 5-1 win GRU Augusta win.

The Jaguars play a PBC dual match at Francis Marion this Saturday, April 5 for an 11:00 a.m. match with the Patriots in Florence, S.C.
