CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The 2015 Jaguar women's tennis team began their new spring season with a 9-0 non-conference victory over the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls in Charlotte, N.C., Sunday, Feb. 1.
GRU's Monica Gonzalez began her Jaguar career in the #1 single position and defeated Victoria Ogundipe 6-0, 6-1 to start her season. Gonzalez and teammate Marie Vin won the #1 doubles match as well for GRU. The Jags went on to win all three doubles maches, only dropping two sets.
Returning Jaguars Aida Castany, Gisela Font, Maria Nadal, and Marie Vin all won their singles matches, while newcomer Amelia Pinoargote defeated Amanda Pettway 6-1, 6-0 to begin her young Jaguar career.
The GRU women won 72 sets and only lost 14 in their season opener, moving to 1-0 on the New Year.
