MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The GRU Augusta women's tennis team won their second consecutive Peach Belt Conference match on Friday, Feb. 13 with a 6-3 victory over the Montevallo Falcons in Montevallo, Ala.
The Jaguars moved to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the Peach Belt Conference, while the Falcons slid to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the Peach Belt.
Nikola Polcerova and Anais Robert defeated Monica Gonzalez and Marie Vin in the #1 doubles contest 9-7, but the Jags overturned the deficit with wins from duo Aida Castany and Maria Nadal and Cecilia Pimentel and Gisela Font in the #2 and #3 doubles matches.
After Polcerova took the #1 singles match, the Jags won four of the next five singles matches to seal a 6-3 PBC victory.
The Jaguars' next home matches are on Tuesday, Feb. 17 when they host Belmont Abbey at 10:00 a.m. and Queens (N.C.) at 3:00 p.m. at Newman Tennis Center.
