YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Jaguar women's tennis team won their fifth straight match on Monday afternoon in a close 5-4 Peach Belt Conference battle at Young Harris in the Bob & Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex.

GRU Augusta is now 11-2 overall and 5-2 in the Peach Belt Conference. They Jaguars are 6-2 on the road with the victory after today. Maria Cecilia Pimentel and Amelia Pinoargote were the only ones to get wins in singles play for GRU. Pimentel won a 6-3, 6-1 match in the third slot, while Pinoargote took down Carolina Hernandez in number six singles 6-2, 6-2.

The Jaguars swept all three doubles matches to get the edge in the close league match in the mountains. Monica Gonzalez and Pinoargote prevailed 8-6 in the first doubles match, before Aida Castany and Maria Nadal took the next 8-4. Pimentel and Marie Vin capped off doubles play with an 8-2 win.

The Jaguars play at USC Aiken for another Peach Belt match on Saturday, March 21 at 12:00 p.m.
