AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Jaguar women's tennis team survived the visiting No. 30 Francis Marion Patriots for a 6-3 Peach Belt Conference victory Saturday at Newman Tennis Center.
GRU improved to 13-6 overall and 6-3 in the PBC, while FMU moved to 7-4 and 4-3 in the PBC.
GRU doubles-duos Aida Castany and Maria Nadal, and Maria Cecilia Pimentel and Marie Vin gave GRU two wins in doubles play. FMU took the opening singles match in the number one spot and the number two spot, but the Jaguars shined in the third-through-six singles slots to steal a 6-3 match over the nationally-ranked Patriots.
The Jags host UNC Pembroke this Sunday, March 29 for a 12:00 p.m. Peach Belt Conference match at Newman Tennis Center.
