FLORENCE, S.C. – GRU Augusta women's tennis drew the fifth-seed for the 2015 Peach Belt Conference Tournament and fell 5-2 to the fourth-seeded Flagler Saints on Friday morning in the fourth quarterfinal match.
TOURNAMENT CENTRAL
Hosted by Francis Marion University at the Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center, the 2015 Peach Belt Tournament kicked off with four men's and women's quarterfinal matches.
Ranked fifth in the NCAA Southeast region and 48th in the country, GRU Augusta won the opening doubles match in the number one, with Monica Gonzalez and Amelia Pinoargote taking care of the Saints 8-6.
Flagler sits 16th in the nation and fourth in the region and after they won the number doubles match, Maria Cecilia Pimentel and Marie Vin won 8-4 at number three doubles for the second win for the Jags.
GRU couldn't overcome Flagler in singles competition as the Saints swept the six matches to seal a first-round win. GRU Augusta will play eight-seeded North Georgia on Saturday, April 25 at 1:00 p.m.
The winner of the 2015 PBC Tournament receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
