BELMONT, N.C. – The Augusta Jaguars women's tennis team won a 9-0 non-conference match on Thursday afternoon over the Belmont Abbey Crusaders. 

The Jaguars are 7-1 with the road victory. Head Coach Michael McGrath returned to his Alma mater in Belmont, N.C., for the match. McGrath earned his undergraduate degree in Sports Management from Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, N.C., in 1995.

The Jags won two 8-3 matches in No.1 and No. 3 doubles and an 8-1 match at No. 2 doubles to start the day.

In No. 1 singles, Brooke Durden only dropped three points to take the first win. Monica Gonzalez won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, Maria Cecilia Pimentel dropped one point to win 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 3 slot, and Gisela Font and Maria Nadal won in No. 4 and No. 5 singles. Amelia Pinoargote prevailed in No. 6 for the flawless win.

Augusta hosts a Peach Belt Conference match on Sunday, Feb. 21 with the Montevallo Falcons at 12:00 p.m.
