AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta improved to 7-2 at home with an 8-1 non-conference victory over the Anderson Trojans on Tuesday afternoon in Newman Tennis Center.
The Jaguars are now 9-2 on the season and return to Peach Belt Conference play this weekend.
Augusta's only loss of the day came in the No. 3 spot in the doubles competition, with Ferreira/Gabriel Freitas falling 8-6. Oliveira/Shamsi took the No. 1 doubles spot 8-3 and Sevel/Gehlhaus rounded out doubles with an 8-4 win at the No. 2 spot.
The Jaguars powered through the singles competition, winning all six matches and dropping just 11 games among all six matches.
Patrick Oliveira took the No. 1 singles spot 6-0, 6-0; Joao Ferreira took the No. 2 spot 6-0, 6-0 and Moritz Gehlhaus continued the domination with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3.
Arthur Andrade claimed the No. 4 spot with a 6-0, 7-6 win; Thomas Sevel took the 6-1, 6-0 win in the No. 5 spot; and Joao Gabriel Freitas rounded out the singles sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 6 spot.
Augusta hosts Young Harris College for a Peach Belt Conference dual match on Sunday, March 13 at 12:00 p.m.
