AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta Jaguars reached 10 wins on the season with a 6-3 non-conference triumph over the Anderson Trojans on Tuesday afternoon in Newman Tennis Center.
The Jaguars are now 10-3 on the season and return to Peach Belt Conference play this weekend.
In doubles competition, Augusta took a 2-1 lead with Brooke Durden and Maria Cecilia Pimentel winning No. 1 doubles with a close 8-6 score. Anderson prevailed in No. 2 doubles, but Gisela Font and Maria Nadal won 8-2 at the third slot.
After Brooke Durden was taken down in No. 1 singles with three sets, Monica Gonzalez evened singles play with a 6-2, 6-3 win in the second singles competition. The Jags dropped No. 3 singles, but Font, Nadal, and Amelia Pinoargote took the last three singles matches to seal the 6-3 win.
Augusta is now 7-3 at home in Newman Tennis Center.
The Jags host Young Harris College for a Peach Belt Conference dual match on Sunday, March 13 at 12:00 p.m.
