AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University men's tennis team hosted its first Peach Belt Conference home match of the season on Sunday morning at Newman Tennis Center and fell 7-2 to nationally ranked Columbus State.

Augusta moved to 5-2 overall and 0-2 in the Peach Belt with the loss. The Jags sit No. 49 in the nation and No. 9 in the NCAA Southeast Region. Sophomore Patrick Oliveira won the opening singles match with a comeback 5-7, 6-3, and 10-8 win.  

Joao Ferreira and Gaspard Mathieu won the No. 3 doubles match over the Cougars for the lone doubles win.

Augusta hosts Flagler on Saturday, Feb. 25 for a 10:00 a.m. PBC match with Flagler at Newman.
