HILTON HEAD, SC. – The Augusta University men's golf won their second tournament of the year on Tuesday afternoon at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate Invitational in Hilton Head, SC.
Hosted by Francis Marion University on the par-72, 6,913-yard course, tournament endured several minor sprinkles, but no major rain delays. Augusta (+14) finished with a three-shot lead over Davidson College (+17) after the third and final round was played. High Point University (+20) finished third while Furman (+21) and Radford (+26) rounded out the top 5.
Davidson's Brian Garrett won the tournament at 2-under-par. Garrett shot 72(E), 69, and 73. Augusta freshman Ben van Wyk led the Jaguars and finished in a tie for 3rd. He shot 70(-2), 69, and 79. Senior Gustav Andersson finished 5th in the tournament.
Augusta led for both days and finished 14-over-par. Ben van Wyk shot AU's low round for the event with a Round 2 67(-5). Augusta sophomore Alex van Wyk finished tied for 11th (+5), freshman Hampus Wijkstrom finished tied for 39th, and freshman Jack Vajda finished tied for 57th.
