Bobcats Defeat Jaguars in Friday Night Battle

AUGUSTA, GA - The Augusta University Women's Volleyball fell to the visiting Georgia College Bobcats in a Peach Belt Conference matchup on Friday night in Christenberry Fieldhouse. Augusta moves to 13-5 (3-2 PBC) while Georgia College improves to 8-13 (3-3 PBC).

The Jaguars got off to a hot start, hitting a .302 hitting percentage in the opening stanza. AU led by as many as 8 points after back-to-back-kills from Kylie Martin put the lead to 24-16.  A kill by Alexis Diaz-Infante secured the Set 1 win for the home team.

The Bobcats turned the tides in set 2, hitting at a .302 clip while holding AU to a .103 hitting percentage. Errors plagued the Jags in Set 2, amassing 6 hitting errors. Augusta would lose the set 25-15.

The Jaguars bounced back and took an early 6-3 lead in the third set after a kill from Diaz-Infante. Georgia College evened the score at 19 after a kill by the Bobcats' Sarah Stewart. Both teams traded points before Augusta was able to close and take a 2-1 lead in the match.

Augusta was able to take an 11-6 lead in set 4 before Georgia College came roaring back and won the fourth set 27-25. The fifth and final set proved to be just as tight with the Bobcats winning 15-12.

Alexis Diaz-Infante had a big night with 17 kills. Julie Archer had 15 kills of her own.

Samantha Zittrauer added 29 assists.

Defensively, Holland Martin, Kiera Barr, and Ally Thees all registered double-digit digs in the contest.

Georgia College was led by Sarah Stewart's 29 kills.
