ROME, GA - The Augusta University Women's Volleyball Team fell to the Shorter the Hawks in the first single away game of the season. Shorter moves to 6-2 while Augusta is now 9-3.

Shorter got off to a hot start in Set 1, winning 25-21. Augusta was held to a .097 hitting percentage in the set while the home team hit a blistering .268 to start the game. Augusta answered in Set 2, hitting 15 kills on 34 swings. The third set proved to be a back-and-forth battle, with Shorter edging the visiting Jaguars 25-22. Set 4 started with the home team out in front, but an attack error by Emma Richardson started a 6-0 run by the visiting Jags to put the score at 14-10. A kill by
Chloe Allen finalized the set 25-23 and forced a fifth and deciding set.
Augusta got off to a 4-1 start in the final set before extending the lead to 8-4 and forcing Shorter to take a timeout. The home team would answer with an 8-1 run of their own, forcing AU to use both of its time outs. A kill by Shorter's Lacee Glover closed the final set 15-13 and solidifying the win for the home team.

AU was led by
Alyssa Frazier's 12 kills and
Chloe Allen's 11 kills.
Holland Martin and
Kylie Martin led the defensive effort with 19 digs and 18 digs respectively.
Samantha Zittrauer and
Ally Thees dished 20 assists and 13 assists each.
