AUGUSTA, Ga – The Augusta University women's volleyball team extended their win streak with a non-conference victory over UNC Pembroke. With the win, Augusta improves to 17-5, 8-2 PBC. UNC Pembroke moves to 15-12.
After winning the first set 25-22, the Jaguars took a convincing second set victory 25-14. The Augusta offense struggled in the third set, turning in a .100 hitting percentage to UNC Pembroke's .226. Both offenses gained momentum in the fourth set, with UNC Pembroke pushing out a 25-19 win. The fifth and final set saw Augusta jump out to an early 5-1 lead. The Braves battled back into the set, closing the lead to one. AU was able to capitalize, closing the set and match in a narrow 15-13 victory.
Freshman
Kayli Cleaver was nearly unstoppable, blasting home 20 kills on 40 swings. Reigning player of the week
Jazmyn Wheeler had 14 kills to go along with 15 digs.
Alexis Diaz-Infante added 9 kills while
Madelyn Eden had 8 kills and an impressive 10 blocks.
Defensively,
Kiera Barr had a match-leading 21 kills.
Dariana Luna added 13 digs.
Samantha Zittrauer led with 33 assists while
Abigail Breeden dished 20 assists.
