No. 12 Augusta Men's Basketball Improves to 10-1 With Win Over Newberry

AUGUSTA, Ga – The No. 12 Augusta University men's basketball team defeated Newberry 81-72 in its final game before the Christmas break. Augusta moves to 10-1 while Newberry falls to 7-5.

Tyshaun Crawford continues to impress, turning in 26 points and 11 rebounds while adding 2 blocks to his stat sheet. The senior center was 10-from-13 from the field. Darren Lucas-White scored 16 points. Miguel Arnold hit four three-pointers during the game, scoring 14 points. David Viti was also in double-figures, adding 13 points in his 27 minutes on the court.
 
The Wolves claimed an early 11-6 lead five minutes into the game. A three-pointer by David Viti tied the game 13-13. Miguel Arnold sunk another shot from beyond the arc gave AU a 20-16 lead with 9 minutes left to play in the first half. Two made layups and a free-throw from Crawford extended that lead to 9 points with just over 6 minutes in the half. While Augusta led by as any as 12 points in the half, the host Wolves were able to cut the lead to 34-27 heading into halftime.
 
Both teams traded buckets in the second half before anther made shot from beyond the arc by Arnold opened a 14-point AU lead. Arnold would sink all four of his three in the second half, helping the Jaguars to an 81-72 non-conference victory.
