AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University baseball team clashed with the West Georgia Wolves on a Tuesday night game at Carollton, Ga and won 6-3.
Augusta (5-3) put up twelve hits on West Georgia and held them to six hits in the non-conference game.
Cotton Phillips pitched three innings and held the Wolves scoreless to get the win.
Darius Dunn,
Britt Kelly, and
Alex Brown all pitched in relief. Brown notched his first save of the season.
Walker Sinclair went 4-for-4 with 2 RBI and 1 run.
Skylor Murphy was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and 1 run.
Pat Galvin and
Ben Markiewicz both had 2 hits and scored 2 runs
Augusta plated
Pat Galvin with a single to center field in the first inning. The home team took an advantage after a 3-run fourth inning. A double from
Walker Sinclair in the fifth inning tightened the score.
Skylor Murphy doubled to left field the seventh, sending
Walker Sinclair and
Ben Markiewicz home. A bases-loaded walk gave AU another score in the eighth inning before a sacrifice fly from
Jordan Wilkie scored
Skylor Murphy and gave the Jags the 6-3 win.
Augusta travel to Mars Hill for a weekend non-conference series Feb 18-19The series starts Friday night with a 3:00 p.m. first pitch.
