AUGUSTA, GA – The Augusta University baseball team was visited by the West Georgia Wolves on Wednesday afternoon. The Jags lost by a score of 9-12.
The loss puts Augusta at 5-7 on the season, while West Georgia is now 6-5. The Jags look to get back in the win column next Wednesday, March 2
nd when they take on the Coker Cobras in Hartsville, South Carolina.
GAME 1
In Wednesday's single game, the scoring got started for both teams in the 4
th inning. West Georgia, who came into the inning up 2-1, scored 3 runs in the inning off two RBI doubles and one RBI single. The Jags answered with a strong 4
th inning of their own, scoring 4 runs off that started with a Kyle Laroche RBI single and ended with a 2 RBI double by
Harrison Aulds, tying the game up at 5-5. A grand slam from West Georgia's Sam Ladner in the 6
th inning put the Wolves up 9-5. In the 8th inning, an answering grand slam from
Mason Robertson would bring the Jaguars within a run with a score of 9-10. It would not be enough though with the Wolves scoring two insurance runs in the 9
th, giving them the win and a final score of 12-9.
