AUGUSTA, Ga – The Augusta University Softball team handed Belmont Abbey its first loss of the season after a walk off homer from
Paige Patterson in the first game of the day. The Jags dropped the second game of the series. AU is now 9-9 heading into their final non-conference game on Wednesday March 2

GAME 1
Paige Patterson was 3-for-4 with 2 runs and 2RBI in the contest
Summer Frye was 3-for-3.
The game was tied 3-3 going into the final inning.
Paige Patterson led off the bottom of the seventh with a walk-off home run off of Belmont Abbey's Alannah Browne.
Mary Tillman (6-4) pitched a complete game, notching an impressive 14 strikeouts and only allowing 4 hits.
GAME 2
Costly errors plague AU in the second game of the day. Two grand slam homers- one in the third inning and one in the fourth – by Belmont abbey opened an 8-0 lead.
A double by
Shelbie Summerlin scored
Tori Pinner in the fourth inning, but that would be AU's only score in the loss.
Maggie McBrayer started on the mound for AU. McBrayer tossed for 4.8 innings before she was replaced by
Lauren Evens
Augusta remains home for the next week, playing a non-conference series against Emmanuel on Wednesday before opening conference play against USC Aiken on Saturday March 5
th and Sunday March 6
th.
