AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University softball team hosted Tusculum University on Sunday afternoon, losing game 1 before winning the second game of the double header.
Augusta is now 3-3 overall while Tusculum is now 2-2.
The Jags host Francis Marion on Saturday at 1:00pm at Jaguar Field for a double-header
GAME 1
Augusta carded 2 hits to Tusculum's 7 in the opening game of the series. Tusculum got on the board first with a single home run in the first inning. The pioneers scored again in the fourth inning before a single by
Olivia Biles scored Maddy Libby in the 5
th inning.
Leading the Jaguars,
Olivia Biles was 2-for-3 with 1 RBI.
Madelyn Libby scored the only run of the day.
Mary Tillman (1-2) pitched all seven innings for the Jags and struck out seven, while surrendering seven hits for three runs.
GAME 2
AU had the hot bats in the second game of the series, defeating the visiting Pioneers 11-1.
Paige Patterson started the scoring for Augusta with An RBI double by
Aliyah Luke in the second gave AU its second score. Doubles by
Jakayla Sullivan and
Olivia Biles also scored runs in the second inning. In the fourth inning,
Jakayla Sullivan and
Kali Garrett both hit homers. Garrett's was a 3 RBI homer to bring the score to 8-1. Not to be outdone,
Paige Patterson hit a 3 RBI homer on the fifth, ending the game at 11-1 in the fifth inning.
Jakayla Sullivan was 2-for-2 with 2 RBI and 2 runs.
Paige Patterson was 2-for-4 with 2 runs and 4 RBI.
Olivia Biles, and
Kali Garrett also had 2 hits in the game.
Bailee Roberts and
Emma Seagrave also notched a hit in the contest.
Maggie McBrayer (1-1) pitched a complete game for the Jaguars, only allowing 3 hits in her 5.0 innings of work
