AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University softball team traveled to North Georgia for a PBC Conference series. The Jaguars played the Nighthawks in a double-header on Sunday Despite a battle, the Jaguars fell 5-3 in game one before dropping game two 9-1. The final game of the series was played on Monday after a rain delay. AU dropped the contest 9-2. Augusta moves to 11-15 overall, 0-6 in the PBC while North Georgia improved to 20-8, 4-2 in conference play.
In game one, the home team pushed a two-run lead. AU booked its first run off a homer to right center from
Jakayla Sullivan. North Georgia pushed their advantage with single runs in the 5
th and 6
th innings. A double by
Shelbie Summerlin down the right field line scored
Tori Pinner in seventh inning.
Madelyn Libby hit a sacrifice fly in the same inning for another run, capping scoring for the Jags.
Mary Tillman pitched another complete game for the Jags, tossing six innings and striking out 5 batters.
Augusta struck first in game two, carding its only run of the game in the top of the first inning.
Maggie McBrayer pitched for 4.2 innings, striking out 3 batters.
For the third and final game of the series, AU tallied 5 hits to North Georgia's 9. AU's two scored come from a
Jakayla Sullivan single and a sacrifice fly from
Bailee Roberts.
Mary Tillman was again the starter for AU, tossing 6 innings and allowing 12 hits.
Augusta remains home for this weekend's series against Flagler College March 19-20.
