Box Score EVANSVILLE, IN – Augusta University men's basketball won an overtime thriller 81-69 against the Chico State Wildcats to advance to the NCAA Final Four.
The Jaguars (32-3) were led by
Miguel Arnold's season-high 33 points.
Tyshaun Crawford carded a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Chico State was led by Malik Duffy's 23 points.
Arnold opened scoring with a 3-pointer after nearly two scoreless minutes from both teams.
The first five points for Augusta would come at the hands of
Miguel Arnold. The first five minutes proved to be low-scoring – Augusta held a 7-4 lead with 15 minutes left to play. After a feed from
Tyshaun Crawford to
Ja'Queze Kirby put the Jags up 7-4, an answering three-point bucket from Chico State's Kevin
Warren notched the game at 7.
Miguel Arnold hit an answering three to give AU a 10-7 lead. Arnold another at with 12:54 left on the clock for a 15-7 AU lead.
Chico State battled back, narrowing the lead to 2 off a made layup by Joshua Hamilton. Augusta again found their rhythm, extending the lead to 8. After another made layup from Chico State's Hamilton in the final second of the half, AU would go to the locker room with a 36-30 lead.
Miguel Arnold led scoring for Augusta in the first half with 16 points - shooting 4-of-6 from beyond the arc and 6-of-8 from the field.
Chico State started the second half on a 10-4 run, taking a two-point lead with 16:23 left to play. Both teams battled before the Jags took a four point lead. Chico State would again battle back, taking a six-point lead of their own after two made free-throws.
Miguel Arnold would shrink the lead to three with yet another made shot from beyond the arc.
Tyree Myers would tie the game at 56.
Chico State would battle, taking another advantage. The Wildcats held a two point advantage with a minute to play, but a dunk by
Tyshaun Crawford with 18 seconds forced overtime.
In true Augusta fashion,
Miguel Arnold open scoring in the overtime with a three-pointer. Augusta would go on to defeat Chico State 81-69.
