CONROE, Texas – The No. 61 Augusta University women's golf program has a six-stroke lead after Round 1 of its first ever Southland Conference Championship. After joining the league last year, Augusta entered the tournament as the top seed. The tournament is being played at the Panorama Golf Club – a par 72, 6,072 yard course.

Augusta holds a six-stroke lead over UIW after the Jaguars carded a 300 (+12) on Monday at the Panorama Golf Club.
Augusta's
Chloe Holder, along with UIW's Ellen Nicholas, fired one-over par on the day to top the field. The Jaguars accounted for five of the top nine spots on the individual board, including
Nicole Page at three-over and three individuals at four-over. Delaware State's Nattavadee Khunsri occupies third place at two-over par.
Natalia Yoko,
Napabhach Boon-In, and
Kennedy Carroll are all currently tied for fourth place (+4).
Incarnate World occupies the second spot (+18) while Texas A&M Corpus Christi (+23) occupies the third places slot after the first day of play. Houston Baptist, Delaware State, and Maryland Eastern Shore round out the field.
Eastern Shore, Delaware State and HBU open day two with an 8 a.m. CT tee time. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's, UIW's and Augusta's groups are slated to begin at 8:45 a.m. The lead group featuring Holder, Nicholas and Khunsri tees off at 9:21 a.m.
The Southland Champion will earn the conference's automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Regionals May 9-11 at a site to be determined. Additionally, the individual champion, if not a part of the championship team, will be granted an automatic selection into the NCAA Regional Tournament.
Qualifiers from the NCAA Regional Tournaments will earn a spot in the NCAA Women's Golf Championship, which will be hosted at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., May 20-25.
