Augusta, Ga. – The Augusta University Jaguars split the first day of their final home series to Georgia Southwestern before dropping the final game on Sunday. The Jaguars are now 14-27 on the season and 3-18 in PBC play. Georgia Southwestern improves to 31-19, 12-9 in PBC play.
Six Augusta seniors were honored before the start of the game on Sunday.
In the first game of the double-header, the Jags found themselves trailing by a single run early in the game. A single from
Madelyn Libby pushed
Emma Seagrave over home plate to even the score in the second inning. A sacrifice fly to left field by
Jakayla Sullivan scored
Summer Frye and gave the Jaguars a slight edge.
Georgia Southwestern tied the score at 2-2 off a sacrifice bunt. In the sixth inning, AU capitalized on an error to seal the 3-2 win.
Bailee Roberts led the offense, going 2-for-3 with 1 run.
Jakayla Sullivan and
Madelyn Libby both carded RBIs.
Maggie McBrayer (6-12) got the win, pitching 7 innings while allowing seven hits for two runs.
In the second game of the day,
Bailee Roberts homered for Augusta's single score of the game. The Hurricanes would win 10-1, carding 10 hits to AU's five.
Lauren Evens pitches a complete game, tossing six innings and striking out two batters.
In the final game of the series, A monster third inning put the Hurricanes up 9-0 in the third inning.
Two runs in the final innings put Augusta on the board, but wouldn't prove enough as the home tell fell 12-2.
Bailee Roberts was 2-for-3 with 1 RBI.
Emma Seagrave was 2-for-2 for the day.
Pitcher
Maggie McBrayer started the game for Augusta. She was replaced by
Lauren Evens after 2.2 innings.
