21st Edition Of The Dip Metress Basketball Academy June 20-24

 
AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University men's basketball head coach Dip Metress will host the 21st edition of the Dip Metress Basketball Academy June 20-24 at Christenberry Fieldhouse.
  
The coed camp is for 1st graders to 11th graders (ages 6-17) and will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Lunch is provided daily. Campers will get a chance to learn from Augusta Jaguars players and coaching staff!

COST
The cost for the camp is $170.00 per camper per week. The fee is all inclusive, and there are no additional costs.  Lunch is included (Monday-Thursday). Camp ends on Friday at 12:00 p.m.
 
PURPOSE
The purpose of the Dip Metress Basketball Academy is to teach basketball fundamentals and develop sportsmanship skills and team play. The camp will include daily instruction on ways to improve individual skills such as passing, shooting and ball handling.
 
FACILITIES/LOCATION
The camp will be held at Augusta University Christenberry Fieldhouse (3109 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, Georgia 30909).

About Augusta Men's Basketball
The Augusta University men's basketball team is led by head coach Dip Metress. On May 10, 2004, Metress was introduced as the fifth head coach in program history. He previously led the Belmont Abbey Crusaders (1996-04) and was an assistant for the Jaguars under Clint Bryant (1989-95). He has never had a losing season in his 15 seasons at the helm of the Jaguars. A two-time Peach Belt Conference Coach of the Year, Metress and the Jags hosted five straight NCAA Regional Tournaments from 2007-11 and advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight three seasons in a row. This past season, Metress led Augusta to the NCAA National Championship Game. He was named the South Atlantic Coach of the Year in 2007, the PBC Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2019, the Southeast Region Coach of the Year in 2009, and the NABC Southeast District Coach of the Year in 2011.
 
Augusta men's hoops has retired four numbers in its 52-year history: Ben Madgen (1), Keshun Sherrill (10), Tyrekus 'AJ' Bowman (23), and Keenan Mann (32). The Jaguars have reached the NCAA tournament 14 times and won their region four times.
