LAKELAND, FL – Opening the 2022 season, Augusta Volleyball swept Bloomfield College 3-0.
Augusta would take an early lead, winning the first set 25-17 before dominating the second set 25-10. The third set would prove to be a back-and-fourth battle. Down 17-18, the Jaguars would go on an 8-2 run to close the set and match.
In what has become a signature for Jaguar volleyball, a balanced offensive attack pushed AU to its first victory of the season. Preseason All-Conference selection
Alexis Diaz-Infante led the offense, turning in 9 kills and 1 error in only 14 attempts. Newcomers
Jordan Jerome and
Madelyn Eden each had 8 kills.
Kayli Cleaver had a near-perfect showing with 7 kills and no errors. Freshman Abigail Levines had 6 kills on 11 swings.
Senior
Kiera Barr anchored the defense with 18 digs.
Madelyn Eden added 4 total blocks in the contest.
Senior Setter
Samantha Zittrauer had a match-high 21 assists to go along with 9 digs.
Abigail Breeden added 13 assists.
