LAKELAND, FL. – The Augusta University volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-18) decision to Lynn University in their final game of the FSC Volleyball Classic Saturday afternoon.
Both teams remained within a point of each other until back-to-back kills from
Jordan Jerome put Augusta up 15-13. The set remained tight before freshman Abigail Levines buried an overpass and forced Lynn to take the first timeout of the match. Recapturing the momentum, the Knights closed the set on a 7-1 run.
Lynn was able to jump put to an early 6-0 lead in Set 2. Errors would continue to plague the Jaguars, falling 25-17 in the second set. After finding themselves in a hole to start the third set, AU went on an 8-2 run to pull the score within 2 points midway through the third set. Despite the comeback, AU would fall 25-18 in the final set.
Seven Jaguars recorded three or more kills in the contest. Defensively,
Kiera Barr had a match-high 19 digs.
Augusta will be closer to home next weekend – playing in the Pacer Invitational at USC Aiken.
