AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's volleyball team won a five set match to Georgia College and State University, who prior to the game was unbeaten in conference. Augusta improves to 10-4, 2-1 PBC, while Georgia College moves to 6-8, 3-1 PBC.
The two teams were virtually even in every category but one serving. August registered 11 aces to Georgia College's 4, helping push the Jaguars to a dramatic fifth set victory.
Jazmyn Wheeler recorded yet another double-double, blasting 16 kills to go along with 20 digs.
Jada Suguturaga had an impressive match, tallying 11 kills with an impressive .458 hitting percentage.
Kayli Cleaver was also in double-figures with 11 kills.
Abigail Breeden dished 25 assists while
Samantha Zittrauer had 22.
Kiera Barr led defensively with 23 digs. Five Jaguars turned in large dig numbers – Wheeler had 20, Breeden had 18,
Dariana Luna had 18, and Zittrauer had 13.
Augusta is set to play rival USC Aiken at home in a Friday-Saturday double-header. Friday's match will be at 6pm. Saturdays match will be at 3pm.
