AUGUSTA, Ga. - The No. 9 Augusta University men's basketball team came from behind to claim an 81-78 victory over Lander. The Jaguars improve to 14-1, 5-0 in conference play. Lander is now 10-4, 2-2 in Peach Belt Play

Lander jumped out to an early 17-10 lead. A three-pointer by Jaylon Pugh extended that lead to nine points with 11:16. A forced steal and score by PBC record-holder
Miguel Arnold cut the Lander lead to 31-24 with 4:45 left in the first half. Turnovers plagued the home team in the first half. Ten turnovers from the Jaguars translated to a 45-31 Bearcat lead at the half.
Augusta outscored Lander 50-33 in the second half. A three pointer by Arnold and a layup by
Darren Lucas-White cut the lead to nine with 16 minutes left in the game. After working themselves back into the game, a 6-0 scoring run by
Tyree Myers brought the score to 64-61 with the just under nine minutes left in the game. A three pointer from Arnold with 5:58 to play gave AU its first lead of the night. After extending the lead to four, Lander hit a timely three to come back within one point with 46 seconds remaining. After Lucas-White hit two free throws, Lander hit another layup with 5 seconds to play. Two made free throws by
David Viti sealed the 81-78 victory.
Tyshaun Crawford dropped 26 points to go along with 6 rebounds and two blocks. He was 9-for-14 from the field and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line.
Miguel Arnold scored 23 points in his 39 minutes of play.
Tyree Myers had nine points and led with 6 assists.
Augusta returns to road, traveling to take on Columbus State on Saturday Jan 14 for a 3:30 pm Peach Belt Contest.
