AMERICUS, Ga – The No. 6 ranked Augusta defeated Georgia Southwestern in Americus on Wednesday night to stay undefeated in conference play. The Jaguars are now 16-1, 7-0 PBC. Georgia Southwestern falls to 8-7, 2-5.

A three pointer by
Miguel Arnold opened scoring for Augusta. The Hurricanes sunk two threes of their own to take an early 2 point lead. After a jumper from Phillip Burwell,
Darren Lucas-White was fouled making a layup. The 'and one' bucket cut the Hurricane lead to one. A dunk from
Tyshaun Crawford with 8 minutes left in the half gave Augusta its largest lead (20-14) of the half. The Hurricanes were persistent, tying the game right before halftime.
The first half proved to be a low-scoring affair for both teams. After being tied at 28, the Jags would get off to a hot start in the second half, mounting a 12-2 run to open up a 10 point lead four minutes into the period.
A three-pointer from
Tyree Myers with 9:10 left to play re-established the double figure lead for AU. The Jags led by as many as 13 before the home team mounted a furious comeback in the final five minutes of the game. A three pointer from Lars Nilsen sparked a 10-0 Hurricane run. Augusta was able to survive the offensive onslaught, capturing a 66-60 victory.
Augusta was led by
Tyshaun Crawford's 22 point, 9 rebound effort. Crawford also added 3 blocks.
Miguel Arnold carded 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals.
Ja'Queze Kirby was also in double figures with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Senior
Tyree Myers dished 6 assists to go along with his 7 points.
Augusta will host Flagler on Sat. Dec 21 at 3:30. Prior to the game, PBC record holders
