MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga – The Augusta University women's volleyball team defeated Georgia College on the road in Peach Belt action Tuesday evening. The Jags won convincingly by scores of 25-9, 25-18, and 25-11. Augusta improves to 15-4 overall and 4-1 in PBC while Georgia College falls to 10-11, 0-7 PBC.
The first set saw AU jump out to an early 5-1 lead. AU used a perfect offensive set - 11 kills with no errors – to tame the home team 25-9 in the first set. After repeating the first set and getting out to an early 5-11 lead, two errors from Georgia College extended that lead to 7-2. Augusta led by as many as eight points late in the set and closed the stanza 25-18 on two errors from Georgia Collage's Rachel Machovec. The Jaguars cruised to an easy third and final set win 25-11.
AU held the advantage in kills, blocks, assists, and digs, but the pressure from the service line proved the difference-maker for AU. Augusta tallied 14 aces to Georgia College's 1.
Augusta was led by
Jazmyn Wheeler's 11 kills.
Sophia Kruczko added 8 kills while Abigail Levines had 6.
Dariana Luna anchored the defense with 14 digs.
Reigning PBC Specialist of the Week
Janvier Buggs carded yet another double-double with 31 assists and 10 digs.
The match marked the beginning of a six-game road stint. Augusta travels to UNC Pembroke on Tuesday, Oct. 17 for a 6:00 pm non-conference matchup.
